Designing methods for predicting the\u00a0degree of ground improvement produced by this\u00a0specific improving technology can be developed by\u00a0theoretical approaches. A prevision method, based\u00a0on finite cavity expansion in dilatants soil theory,\u00a0has been developed and is presented in this paper.\u00a0A comparison between theoretical data and on site\u00a0tests results is also provided.<\/h4>\n<p>Starting from specific laboratory tests carried out on resin samples, a\u00a0modification was\u00a0 introduced to the previous works\u00a0on cavity expansion, based on the experimental\u00a0relationship between resin expansion pressure and\u00a0confinement pressure offered by the treated soil.\u00a0The different behaviour shown by cohesive and\u00a0granular soils depends on their permeability to\u00a0resin. The resin, in its liquid phase, expands in\u00a0cohesive soils in a monolithical body and poorly\u00a0permeates the soil by breaking it along micro-fissures. On the other side, after injection in granular\u00a0soils, the liquid resin fills the soil voids and originates a composite hard material with a compressive strength comparable to
